Memorial Hospital Ranks in the Top 10% of Hospitals for Patient Safety by Consumer Reports
July 06, 2012
Jacksonville, FL – In a study conducted by the trusted group Consumer Reports, Memorial Hospital was ranked in the top 10% of hospitals in Florida for patient safety. Memorial Hospital was one of only 20 hospitals in our state to receive an above average score. To put that in perspective, 192 Florida hospitals in the state were evaluated. Only one other Jacksonville Hospital received an above average score.
“If a hospital is average or better we think they get it,” said Dr. John Santa, with the Consumer Reports Health Ratings Center. “They prioritize safety, they’re moving in the right direction and also they are telling us that. Hospitals that are below average need to prioritize safety more than they are now.”
Just last month Memorial Hospital received positive scores for patient safety by the independent Leapfrog Group. Memorial is also the only hospital in Jacksonville to be named a Top Performer in Key Quality Measures by the Joint Commission.
