Our Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our team of medical professionals treats more than 100,000 patients per year for a wide variety of ailments, ranging from minor injuries to major illnesses and heart attacks. Our ED is staffed and equipped with some of the most advanced technology available to support the many specialty services our hospital provides including cardiac care, obstetrical care, and stroke care.
Our 33 bed emergency room features:

Memorial ExpressCare is located across the parking lot from our main ER. It is designed to rapidly treat your minor illnesses and injuries anytime of the day or night. It features:
- 13 private patient rooms
- x-ray and lab capabilities
- physicians on-site 24/7
ExpressCare is considered an emergency room visit by most insurance companies and will be billed accordingly.
For minor ailments and less severe emergencies, ExpressKids offers a fast track option in an area designed just for children. All rooms are private and include child-friendly artwork, colors and special lighting to relieve children’s anxiety and make the experience as comfortable as possible. In addition, each room is equipped with a touch-screen tablet so kids can watch videos and play games while waiting to be seen by a physician or nurse. The ExpressKids facility is located adjacent to the main Emergency Room and features a separate entrance and waiting room.
What to Expect
We understand that medical emergencies can be very stressful for you and your family. Our caring staff is committed to easing your fears throughout your entire stay. Here’s what you can expect while you are in our Emergency Department.
When you arrive, a registered nurse or a nurse practitioner will conduct an initial exam, take your vital signs and complete a brief medical history. The triage process helps us determine the severity of your emergency and allows us to take care of the most serious cases first. That’s why someone who arrives after you may be treated before you. We work to see everyone as quickly as possible but we attend to patients with the most critical needs first.
This is when a physician will examine you and order any tests needed to evaluate your condition. Our goal is to keep you as comfortable as possible and conduct tests as quickly as possible. Some tests take longer to complete, and we appreciate your patience in advance.
Your treatment will depend on your physician’s orders after the medical evaluation is complete. Our staff will keep you informed about what to expect during every part of the treatment process.
Admission or Discharge
Most patients are treated and then released from the emergency room. If you are admitted to the hospital, you will be transferred to a patient room and we will notify your primary care physician. If you do not have a physician, a physician on our staff, called a hospitalist, will coordinate your care while you’re at the hospital.
If your emergency room physician determines you can go home, you will receive written instructions about how to take care of yourself after you leave the hospital. It is important to follow these instructions, take all prescribed medications and schedule a follow-up appointment with your personal physician. If you have questions about your discharge instructions, please ask your nurse.

- iStat – Used for point of care testing and results. With this system patients can receive many cardiac test results and metabolic panels in minutes.
