For Six Years Running, Memorial Hospital is top in labor and delivery
Memorial Hospital is a 5-star recipient of the 2020 Healthgrades awards for women's care. These awards recognize the exceptional care of mothers during and after labor and delivery, procedures, and surgeries according to Healthgrades.
"Women who select a hospital with a 5-star rating can feel confident in their choice knowing that these organizations are committed to providing exceptional women's care to their patients," said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades.
For Six years running Memorial Hospital has earned a Five-Star rating for Vaginal Delivery (2015-2020). And for three years running they have been a Five-Star Recipient for C-Section Delivery (2018-2020). Healthgrades analyzed all-payer state data for 16 states for years 2016 through 2018 and found that women having a C-Section in hospitals rated 5-stars have, on average, a 59.4% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals rated 1-star*.
"We are proud of our 5-star rating for the sixth year running for our performance in labor and delivery," said Mary Reval, DNP, RN, Memorial Hospital's Chief Nursing Officer. "This acknowledgment of our commitment to patient care and surgical performance validates our medical team and reassures our moms-to-be that they will be well taken care of when they choose Memorial Hospital."
Healthgrades gathers information to help women take charge of their own healthcare journey. The ratings and awards help them understand a hospital's clinical performance and "information regarding hospital quality empowers consumers to take control of their own healthcare and make the right decisions as to where they will seek care," Bowman added.
