Jacksonville, FL – Memorial Hospital is proud to announce it has completed work on an expansion and renovation of its main Emergency Department.
The Emergency Department renovation project, which took about 10 months to complete, gave the entire area a more modern look and feel. In addition, the expansion added five new private-patient rooms and two additional triage rooms to better serve the community. Our resuscitation rooms were also reconfigured to allow for the necessary equipment for our critically ill patients.
“We are continuously looking for ways to better serve the growing needs of the community,” said Memorial Hospital President & CEO Jim O’Loughlin. “As the busiest Emergency Room in the city, we wanted to continue to provide high-quality, compassionate care in an environment that allows us to treat patients as quickly and as efficiently as possible.”
The project also included renovations to the ExpressCare facility, which is located adjacent to the main ER. ExpressCare offers a fast track option for patients with minor ailments and less-severe injuries. In December, Memorial Hospital will open ExpressKids, a similar area near the ExpressCare location designed just to treat pediatric patients.
In addition to the main Emergency Department, ExpressCare and ExpressKids, Memorial operates two free-standing emergency rooms; Memorial Emergency Center- Julington Creek and Memorial Emergency Center – Atlantic.
All three of our ER locations are open 24/7 and offer advanced imaging and lab capabilities.
