Jacksonville, FL – Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville is pleased to share that it is opening a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) on the third floor of its south tower (3 South). The new CVICU will be the first unit to offer cardiovascular, critical care and progressive cardiovascular care for patients at Memorial.
The new CVICU on 3 South will offer 18 patient rooms. There will be 6 critical care beds and an additional 12 progressive care beds for our cardiovascular surgical patients.
"We are pleased to be able to offer this CVICU unit to care for our cardiovascular surgical patients," said John Lazenby, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Memorial Hospital. "This beautiful new unit will be an excellent place for these patients to receive the best in specialized cardiovascular care."
Cardiovascular surgeon Dale Mueller, MD, will serve as the unit's new Medical Director, and Critical Care Director, Angelo Podes, RN, BSN will serve as the unit's nurse leader.
