Our cardiac rehabilitation program

If you have been recently diagnosed with a heart condition, your doctor may recommend cardiac rehab. The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center at Memorial Hospital Jacksonville helps cardiac patients get back optimal health. Services we offer include:

Eligibility for cardiac rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation is offered for patients who:

  • Are diagnosed with cardiovascular disease or angina
  • Have had coronary angioplasty, atherectomy or stent placement
  • Have had a heart attack
  • Have had open heart surgery

Cardiac rehabilitation is especially important if you have additional risk factors for heart disease. This includes:

  • Congestive heart failure
  • Diabetes
  • Heart rhythm abnormality
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Vascular disease

Getting started with cardiac rehabilitation

Before starting cardiac rehabilitation, you will need a physician's referral, medical evaluation and exercise stress test to determine your physical condition. Most major insurance companies cover cardiac rehabilitation services. However, if rehabilitation is not a covered benefit on your plan, an alternative program is available.

Our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm. We are also open for one-on-one appointments Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

Health, education and recreational training (HEART) Fitness Center

The HEART Fitness Center provides state-of-the-art workout equipment in a supervised environment. Our highly experienced staff is available to answer any questions and provide guidance in your exercise program. We offer a variety of cardiovascular and muscle toning equipment to suit the needs of our members, including:

  • Airdyne bicycles
  • Elliptical trainers
  • Recumbent stepper
  • Stair climber
  • Stationary bicycles
  • Strength training equipment (dumbbells, weight machines, medicine balls, etc.)
  • Treadmills

The HEART Fitness Center is open to individuals who are 18 years old or older. If you have any medical conditions, you will need to fill out a medical history form and get consent from your doctor before starting an exercise program.

Our fitness center is open Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 5:00pm.
